New regulation on Electronic Patient Journals  The Ministry of Health and Care Services released Friday June 24th a new Regulation on Security around Electronic Patient Journals and other Health Registers. The new regulation shall provide enhanced security around the Electronic Patient Journals and other Health registers and regulate access to health information. Read more

Presented innovative solutions to the politicians The Norwegian Government and Kåre Hagen released the Whitepaper on Innovation in Health Care (NOU 2011: 11 – Innovasjon i omsorg) Thursday June 16th.  - Future oriented use of technology can meet a lot of the challenges in the health care sector, says Minister of Health and Care Services, Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen. Innovative Procurement (innkjøp) in Healthcare Oslo Municipality and Oslo Medtech presented method for Innovative Procurement at the Arendalskonferansen 21 – 22. June, and inspired other Norwegian municipalities to use the same method in their procurement processes in the healthcare sector. Read more

Game technology succesfully used in the health sector Project results shows that gaming technology may succesfully be used for the activation of the elderly, according to Mektron. Lærdal Medical uses various forms of simulation to train people to save lives. Østfold hospital uses game technology to simulate hospital services. Read more

Strenthens focus on innovation by membership in Oslo Medtech Managing Director Bente Mikkelsen in Helse Sør-Øst (the South-East Regional Health Authority) believes it is important that the health authority takes an active role in innovation communities through partnership and structural measures. Significantly better life quality with continent ileostomy A clinical trial is currently underway in collaboration between Akershus University Hospital, Oslo University Hospital and OstomyCure AS. The goal is to create a continent ileostomy with a continent mechanical valve with the help of a percutaneous implant that can be closed with a lid attached to the implant. Read more

Resarch funding from VERDIKT granted to OUS and IFI, UiO For the first time the Norwegian Research Council has allocated funding for innovation projects in the public sector. This support have previously been reserved for the private businesses. Read more
