The Norwegian Research Council gives priority to new investment to meet social challenges
The proposed grant budget is of 140 million and is the largest of the NFR’s five priorities. The program is called “More active and healthy years”.
Jesper Simonsen, Director of the Division of Society and Health, says at the Research Council’s website that the goal of this initiative is to meet this new social challenge by knowledge and innovation. Welfare Technology and innovation are important new elements, while service research will be strengthened. The proposal involves co-ordinate better and increase funding to the research already done on issues that are significantly more important as the proportion of elderly in the population increases. In addition, The Norwegian Research Council proposes a major new program of "Good and efficient services - research and innovation, health care and welfare services."
