Launch of Hagenutvalgets Whitepaper on Innovation in Healthcare - NOU 2011: 11 – Innovasjon i Omsorg

Rigmor Åserud og Kåre Hagen.The Norwegian Government and Kåre Hagen released the Whitepaper on Innovation in Health Care (NOU 2011: 11 – Innovasjon i omsorg) Thursday June 16th.  - Future oriented use of technology can meet a lot of the challenges in the health care sector, says Minister of Health and Care Services Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen.

Kåre Hagen presented the conclusions of the report at the TEKNA conference Thursday June 16th and at the Arendal conference June 22nd.

The Norwegian Government and Kåre Hagen released the Whitepaper on Innovation in Health Care (NOU 2011: 11 – Innovasjon i omsorg) Thursday June 16th.

 - Future oriented use of technology can meet a lot of the challenges in the health care sector, said Minister of Health and Care Services Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen, when she received the report from Kåre hagen June 16th. Kåre Hagen presented the conclusions of the report at the TEKNA conference Thursday June 16th and at the Arendal conference June 22nd. The mandate of the group has been to “Utrede muligheter og foreslå nye innovative løsninger for fremtidens omsorgssektor”.
The overall conclusion in the report is that there are large opportunities for innovation and creating a more effective and better healthcare system in Norway.  He stated that the technology is there – but at the same time asked - Why don’t we take it in use? There are huge barriers in the healthcare sector - in the culture, politics and in the economy, that we need to overcome.

The Minister of Government Administration, Reforms and Church Affairs, Rigmor Aasrud, commented the report at the opening of the TEKNA conference. She focused on the need for take in use new technology in the development of a good and efficient health care Sector in Norway.  – “The Norwegian Government and Municipalities have as an ambition to be among the best in the world to take in use new technology in the Health Care Sector. This is important for the patients and the health care sector and services, and for the competitiveness of the industry” (Oslo Medtech translation of the speech).
 
The Minister pointed out that the social economic savings of taking in use Smarthouse technology in Norway is 8 MRD NOK, and that this is a small investment compared to the costs in the sector. She also opened up for privat-public cooperation in the development of new solutions for the Health Care Sector.
